Dial:
The dial is a fantastic “Die-struck” antique Dial, circa 1914. Raised gold Arabic Numbers. The hands are Dauphin style beveled, with blue ION plating with luminous.
A Die-struck dial was made by this process: A master die was hand-engraved or etched by skilled artisans to include the intricate details, such as numbers, indices, logos, or patterns for the dial. This die acted as a stamp to transfer the design onto the blank watch dial. The creation of the die required precision since any flaw would be replicated on every dial. After striking, the raw dials were cleaned, smoothed, and refined to remove any burrs or rough edges left by the striking process. Hand finishing was often involved to enhance or deepen certain details.
