Im a big fan of “SteamPunk” and every now and then I try to apply the design concept to my watches..
The dial is made from an ebauche plate from a fusee movement made around 1860 -they didn’t learn how to synthesize corundum, which they use for modern days watch jewels until around 1905 – so the red and white round jewels you see on the plate are actual real rubies and white sapphires. I added various screws and Fusee parts to the dial, and I used the fusee mainspring cut- out for the Skelton section showing the winding system of the Antique Elgin USA movement under the plate, the Elgin was manufactured in 1920. The dial also shows the motion of the pallet fork jewel through a cut out on the dial. The hands are antique blued steel, which I enameled the tips white for contrast and easier to read the time.
