Waltham 19 jewel Movement from 1921

case:
Hand made prototype steel case. Water Resistant to 50 meters (150 feet). The Speakeasy case is evocative of the Roaring 20's in the USA. Art Deco was the design of the era, and is reflected in architecture (Empire State Building, Chrysler Building), art (Picasso), and fashion.

44mm wide, 13.5 mm thick, 56 mm end to end.

Movement:
19 jewel Vintage Waltham American pocket watch movement. Manufactured in 1921. High grade, signed, “P.J.Bartlett” Movement. Bimetallic balance wheel. Rose gold jewel cups, rose gold balance screws. Fantastic decorated finish.

About the P.J. Bartlett Movement: One of the early employees of the Boston Watch Company, a precursor to the Waltham Company, was a man named Patten Sargeant Bartlett.  Bartlett’s family was one of the oldest and most famous puritan families in Massachusetts and that his great uncle, Josiah Bartlett was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.  P.S. Bartlett left Waltham to assist in the organization of the National Watch Company at Elgin Illinois.  He eventually wound up working for Waltham again as a salesman and then ran his own wholesale business.

Vintage 'Art Deco” silver dial with Guilloche inset. Engraved with inlaid black enamel arabic numbers. Chrysler Building style Art Deco hands – black and chrome with luminous.
